Craft creator guide

Take a Roblox game idea from a one-room brief to a script you can playtest. Start in your browser, then bring the reviewed files into Roblox Studio.

How do I start a Roblox game project in Craft?

Open the browser preview and create a project for one game idea. In the game brief, write down what the player does, what makes that action fun, and the smallest version you could test in Roblox Studio.

For a checkpoint obby, the first test could be one jump, one checkpoint, and a player who respawns at that checkpoint after falling. Keep ideas for extra levels in a project chat until the first jump feels right.

Where should I keep my Luau scripts?

Open Project files to create or import source files alongside your brief. Keep a script’s relative path when you move it between Craft and a local project.

For the checkpoint example, you might name the server-side script src/server/CheckpointService.luau. Save the script in the project, then test its respawn behavior in Roblox Studio.

Can I use Craft without signing in?

Yes. The browser preview saves your projects, briefs, chats, and source files in that browser. Export a project bundle before changing devices or clearing site data. You can import the bundle as a separate project later.

A signed-in cloud workspace stores projects under the account. To take work from the guest preview into another workspace, export and import the project yourself.

How does my project reach Roblox Studio?

Install the Craft plugin and open a test place. From a browser project, download a reviewed change and select it in the plugin. From a cloud project, pair the place, review the source, and approve the change in Craft.

Use the plugin to playtest local changes. For a paired cloud project, approved playtests send their results back to Craft. Publishing is a separate action in Roblox Studio.

Who can edit projects in a shared workspace?

Owners, administrators, and editors can edit project content. Viewers can read it. An owner or administrator can invite editors and viewers using an expiring link tied to the recipient’s verified email address.

Only the owner can give someone the administrator role. Give a playtester Viewer access to read a brief, or Editor access to a collaborator who needs to update files.

What can an AI agent read or change?

In a cloud workspace, an owner or administrator can issue a scoped key for REST or MCP access. Read access can expose project names, briefs, and saved source files. A custom key can grant just the permission an agent needs.

For example, give a code reviewer permission to read files. Grant file-write access only when the agent should be able to replace saved source directly. Source changes still need a Studio playtest. Model-powered builds require configured model access.
